The Conference in Moscow

On 12-13 November 2013, High-Voltage Union Concern participated in the annual XVII International Research-to-Practice Technical Conference «Smart Electrical Energy, Automation, HV Controlled and Switching Equipment» (Moscow).

The papers presented at the Conference were devoted to the prospects for development of «smart» electric power grids, new developments of switching and distribution equipment, automated control and protection systems.

The Principal Designer of High-Voltage Union Concern Yaroslav Volodymyrovych Melnyk made the report on «Experience of Integration of 110 kV Vacuum Circuit-Breakers into the Power Grids of Russia and CIS Countries». Yaroslav Volodymyrovych spoke about a unique innovation developed by High-Voltage Union Concern – the vacuum circuit-breaker series BPC-110 – and its best operating practices.

The report also highlighted the essential advantages of this apparatus over other types of circuit-breakers used nowadays, in particular:

  • extensive electrical lifetime – 10 000 CO cycles at rated currents and 25 CO cycles at rated breaking currents
  • eco-friendly and no additional expenses for utilization
  • possibility to operate them at low temperatures (down to - 60° С) without additional heating

The report was of high interest for prospective clients and caused an energetic discussion among the conference participants. The audience got answers to all their questions and returned thanks to the speaker by a big round of applause.
